Cuba Entomology Field Research: Guanahacabibes
From the Expedition
Guanahacabibes National Park and UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, located on the Guanahacabibes Peninsula in Pinar del Rio province, Cuba, was one of three locations used for our Cuba Entomology Research Expedition. The region was chosen as it remains mostly untouched and unresearched. We used the remote Villa Cabo San Antonio in Las Tumbas at the far western-end of the peninsula for base camp. We hiked across the tip of the peninsula to Marina Gaviota Cabo San Antonio, where we met with scientists, toured their science lab and viewed research on the fruit fly.
