Myanmar: Bagan Archaeological Zone and Monuments

Bagan Archaeological Zone contains the remains of the first Burmese Empire dating back over 1000 years. The area lies on the eastern bank of the Ayeyarwady River in Myanmar. Bagan is a sacred destination highlighting Buddhism merit making, art and architecture. This extraordinary place became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019. XplorMor International was highly honored to photograph the monuments of Bagan; however, we arrived in 2016 a week after the earthquake which left a great destructive mark across the landscape. Thankfully there is continued preservation.

Please explore the map and photo gallery below to journey with us along the ancient paths and halls of the Bagan Archaeological Zone.
