Angkor Wat Temple
Angkor Wat, meaning “temple city”, is Cambodia’s most celebrated monument, and considered the symbol of its nation. It was an architectural triumph in the 12th century, and remains to this day the largest temple in the world with its complex covering 400 acres. The temple is surrounded by a massive archaeological area that was declared: Angkor Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in 1992. Due to its extraordinary features and massive scale, Angkor continues to receive higher numbers of visitors each year. Conservation efforts are underway to ensure the site’s future. XMI was honored to document the area for scientific research, preservation and promotional purposes.
