Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming
In 1872 Yellowstone National Park was established as the first National Park in the United States, as well as in the world. This designation started a global movement to protect wild lands and other important sites. The Park is a volcanic "hot spot", encompassing 3,500 square miles that “contain half of all the world's known geothermal features, with more than 10,000 examples. It also has the world's largest concentration of geysers – more than 500 geysers, or two thirds of all those on the planet (UNESCO). The Park lands are located mostly in Wyoming, with small percentages in Montana and Idaho. Yellowstone is known the world over for its incredible natural features and abundant wildlife. XMI was thrilled to document this phenomenal site for archival records and promotional purposes.
